    Section 1.9
    Question 89

    Part (a)

    y = 10 + 0.75x

    x = 10 + 0.75y

    (x - 10)= 0.75y

    (x - 10)/(0.75) = y

    Let x = number of units produced per hour.

    Let y = hourly wage

    Is this right?

    Part (b)

    Let y = 24.25

    24.25 = (x - 10)/(0.75)

    I need to find x.

    (24.25)(0.75) = x - 10

    18.1875 = x - 10

    18.1875 + 10 = x

    28.1875 = x

    The problem does not say to round off any decimal number. I will press forward to say that the number of units produced when the hourly wage is $24.25 is 28.
