    Section 4.7

    20211120_183612.jpg

    Part (a)

    I will do the set up only.

    cot(theta) = 5.5/8.5

    Taking arccot on both sides, I get the following:

    theta = arccot(5.5/8.5)

    Yes?

    Part (b)

    After finding theta for (a), here is the set up:

    tan(theta found in part a) = h/8.5, where h is the height of a pile of rock salt.

    You say?

    Part (a) cot(theta) = 5.5/8.5.......incorrect

    it is tan(theta) = 5.5/8.5

    I meant to type tan(theta) but for some reason cot(theta) came to mind. I got it. Not too bad. Wish all problems were this easy.
