    Solve for x.

    2^x + x = 11

    Ha!

    2^x + x = 11

    2^x = 11-x...prepare for Lambert form [IMG]

    Rewrite the equation with (-x+11)ln(2)=u and [IMG]

    [IMG].......simplify

    [IMG].......rewrite in Lambert form

    [IMG].....solve

    u=8ln (2)

    substitute back u= (-x+11 )ln(2),solve for x

    (-x+11 )ln(2)=8ln (2)
    -x+11 =8
    11-8=x
    x=3
