I want to know if my set up is correct.

    1. Five years ago, John’s age was half of the age he will be in 8 years. How old is he now?

    Let x = John’s current age.
    Let x - 5 = John’s age 5 years ago.

    x - 5 = 1/2(x + 8)

    Correct?

2.Ten years from now, Orlando will be three times older than he is today. What is his current age?

    Let x = Orlando's current age.
    Let x + 10 = Orlando's age in 10 years.

    x + 10 = 3x

    You say?
